Logo design for theatre company “Theatre Inamorata.”
The company is a repertory troupe run by women and featuring female casts in female-centric works so it was imperative that the logo carry a feminine quality.
The word “Inamorata” comes from an Italian theatre style known as “Commedia Del’Arte” which was being performed in continental Europe while Shakespeare was writing in England. In the style, the young lovers, a staple of the genre, were referred to as “Inamorata” (the lovers).
The caligraphic font and the quill in the T of Inamorata are references to that era. Meanwhile, the modern font for “Theatre” helps anchor the logo in the present.
